37.5 hours shifts between 08.00 – 18.00 Monday to Friday including Saturdays on rotation.

A vacancy has arisen for a suitably qualified HCPC registered Biomedical scientist to work as an Anticoagulation Specialist in the Anticoagulant Dosing and Advisory service at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals This is a busy service providing anticoagulation dosing advice to 5500 patients across the Fylde coast. The position will involve close liaison with the Biomedical Scientists/Nurses, ADAS support staff and the Haematology medical staff.

ADAS is a near patient testing service providing Anticoagulation dosing advice to patients at community based clinics. You will be part of a multi skilled team of staff, travelling out to GP surgeries and primary care centres to provide blood testing clinic sessions and dosage advice to our patients. We also have involvement with the new anticoagulation drugs, the DOACs, providing a drug and dosage safety check service with comprehensive patient education. The job will involve patient liaison and you will assist in the interface between the medics and pharmacists to ensure that the National Patient Safety Agency guidelines for safer anticoagulant care are followed and audited. The clinic uses Dawn Anticoagulant software to provide dosage advice and the ideal candidate would have some previous experience/knowledge of anticoagulation care. We will provide support for learning development, including supervision and appraisals
