Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. We employ more than 6,500 staff, have approximately 900 beds and have a planned turnover in excess of £410m for 2017/2018.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

Our strategic vision for 2020 is:

As a high performing Trust, operating as part of an integrated care system, we will provide high quality, safe and effective care. This will be achieved in a financially sustainable way, through our skilled and motivated workforce”.

Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our well integrated team of forward thinking anaesthetists and work in our state of the art cardiothoracic intensive care unit at Lancashire Cardiac Centre. We are a close team of eleven Consultant Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists providing Anaesthetic and critical care cover for cardiothoracic surgery and rapidly expanding cardiology programmes based in the Lancashire Cardiac Centre at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

We provide a comprehensive range of adult cardiothoracic surgical and cardiology procedures to a population of 1.6 million in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
