Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. We employ more than 6,500 staff, have approximately 900 beds and have a planned turnover in excess of £410m for 2017/2018.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

Our strategic vision for 2020 is:

As a high performing Trust, operating as part of an integrated care system, we will provide high quality, safe and effective care. This will be achieved in a financially sustainable way, through our skilled and motivated workforce”.

Critical Care

£24,214 - £30,112 PER ANNUM, PRO RATA

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals are looking for highly motivated, committed, enthusiastic and reliable Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our friendly Critical Care team within the Unscheduled Care Division.

Critical Care is currently based over two units, an 8 bedded ICU and a 6 bedded HDU, located very near to each other.

We treat a wide variety of patients from many different specialities.

One years’ post registration experience is desirable. However, if you have just qualified and have had a significant placement in the Intensive Care or Cardiac Intensive Care then we want to hear from you.

We require enthusiastic individuals with a can do attitude that have the ability to work within our friendly Critical Care team and also within the wider unscheduled care team. You must be passionate about delivering the highest quality of individualised care for our patients, with a commitment and drive to get things right first time every time. The successful candidate will be flexible to suit the need service which includes an on call shift.

Commitment to undertake ongoing in-service training and development is essential.  You should be motivated, keen to learn and ready to embrace change. Our commitment to you is to provide the environment for this to happen and ensure that you are part of our defined preceptorship programme.

If you are motivated to deliver high standards of care, and you have the personal qualities and characteristics which match our Trust values, then this could be the post for you.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this post.

Please note that if your application is successful it will be subject to Occupational health checks and references.

The Occupational Health Department can access your occupational health records from your current or previous employer in order to check the status of your inoculations and screening test. This is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to your taking up the position with us.
