Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. We employ more than 6,500 staff, have approximately 900 beds and have a planned turnover in excess of £410m for 2017/2018.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

Our strategic vision for 2020 is:

As a high performing Trust, operating as part of an integrated care system, we will provide high quality, safe and effective care. This will be achieved in a financially sustainable way, through our skilled and motivated workforce”.

Emergency Department Assistant

Previous applicants should not apply.

Unscheduled Care is an exciting, diverse and large acute division which encompass many specialities – every day is different!

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us in our busy and transforming Emergency Department as an Emergency Department Assistant.  Our department covers and provides a service to a population of approximately 450,000 residents, increasing during our busy holiday seasons.  We consider the department to be an innovative, creative and friendly environment for those healthcare professionals who wish to provide high quality patient centred care.
You will have a can do attitude and be working with people of a similar mind who are as motivated as you are to deliver high standards of care in a supportive, responsive and cheery environment.

The applicant should be aware the post is extremely busy and candidates should be organised, I.T literate and able to prioritise a multitude of demands. Previous experience in care and experience in an Emergency Department is desirable but not essential.

Applicants must have a flexible approach to work as shift patterns are Monday-Sunday, Days & Nights, 365 days a year. It is recommended that those considering applying for the position visit the department for more insight.

There are 5 posts available, fixed term until the 28th June 2020. There is a possibility that a permanent post may become available which the successful candidates would be eligible to interview for should this occur.

As we expect a high number of applicants, the interviews will be competitive and the advert may close before the advertised end date.

Interviews will be conducted in the format of a 2 part Assessment Centre on Monday 9th September.
