Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. We employ more than 6,500 staff, have approximately 900 beds and have a planned turnover in excess of £410m for 2017/2018.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

Our strategic vision for 2020 is:

As a high performing Trust, operating as part of an integrated care system, we will provide high quality, safe and effective care. This will be achieved in a financially sustainable way, through our skilled and motivated workforce”.

Do you have a passion for Hospital Pharmacy and a proven track record within a clinical field?

Why not join Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a forward thinking Trust which has recently been appointed by NHSE to deliver HIV services across the whole of Lancashire.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced band 7 or 8 pharmacist wishing to gain experience in this specialist area whilst also developing managerial skills. On the job training will be provided to candidates lacking specific HIV/antiretroviral experience.
Based at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals you will be instrumental in the development of the new service. Working in close collaboration with colleagues in the other Lancashire acute provider trust’s the service will provide for all patients within the Lancashire catchment area with the emphasis being on provision of care locally wherever possible.

The department has a strong commitment to advancing pharmacy practice and embedding effective medicines management systems into patient care and is now looking to appoint a dynamic individual with good organisational and communication skills who is keen to be involved in the development of this innovative service. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will provide a comprehensive and high quality clinical service to both adult inpatient and outpatients.

The successful candidate will work at a senior level within the service and play an influential role in the patients care pathway whilst building upon proven clinical skills. The combination of responsibilities within the role will significantly facilitate your growth as a pharmacy practitioner.

You will work closely with the medical and nursing staff to promote clinical and
cost-effective prescribing through evidence based guidelines. The post holder will develop, audit and monitor medicines management processes within the service and provide training and supervision to departmental staff.
