Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. We employ more than 6,500 staff, have approximately 900 beds and have a planned turnover in excess of £410m for 2017/2018.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

Our strategic vision for 2020 is:

As a high performing Trust, operating as part of an integrated care system, we will provide high quality, safe and effective care. This will be achieved in a financially sustainable way, through our skilled and motivated workforce”.

Applications are invited from professional, skilled and experienced individuals who would welcome the challenge of working within a busy ICT Department. The ICT Department is responsible for the continued development and support of the ICT Telecommunications infrastructure; supporting approximately 7000 users across the Fylde Coast and beyond. The primary function of this role is to be responsible for the development and maintenance of the core desktop environment including provision of applications using technologies including application virtualisation and Microsoft SCCM. As an ICT Technical Engineer you will also be required to have an understanding of Windows desktop operating systems both in a physical and virtual environment.

The post holder will be at the forefront of the delivery of projects that promote new and innovative ways of working, by implementing technology that can increase efficiency, improve communication, reduce cost and ultimately enable clinicians to provide better care for patients. We are looking for a proactive individual who will be dedicated to working with the wider ICT Team to ensure business critical services are available at all times. This post requires frequent interaction with suppliers and staff at all levels; therefore excellent communication skills and a professional manner are required at all times. This position will also demand a level of physical activity and requires the post holder to prioritise and manage a considerable workload. The successful candidate will be able to travel regularly to other locations both internal and external to the Trust, and will be expected to deliver support where required, although mainly in the North West Lancashire region.
