Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. We employ more than 6,500 staff, have approximately 900 beds and have a planned turnover in excess of £410m for 2017/2018.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

Our strategic vision for 2020 is:

As a high performing Trust, operating as part of an integrated care system, we will provide high quality, safe and effective care. This will be achieved in a financially sustainable way, through our skilled and motivated workforce”.

We are seeking a very rare breed to join the team in our quest to enable Healthcare and NHS professionals to make the right and most cost effective decisions for patient care in excellence and healthcare services. Using the very latest developments in Analytics, Data Science and Operational Research you will be providing exceptional data insight to senior managers through the power of statistical analysis.

As a data scientist specialising on the development and use of machine learning and statistics within the health sector and predictive analysis you will form part of a multi-skilled team of statisticians, developers and data visualisation experts to help build meaningful applications. Through the use of various programming languages such as R (or a suitable alternative), combined with the vast amount of data held and maintained within the Trust Data Warehouse and many other sources, the role will draw greater intelligence and insight to aid business decisions and patient flow.
