                    LUNG CANCER SPECIALIST NURSE

PERMANENT POSITION

21.5 hours a week

An opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 7 Specialist Nurse. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated registered nurse whom is passionate and committed to delivering excellent holistic care for all patients with Lung Cancer.

We are a small team that provides inpatient and outpatient services for patients with lung cancer.  The service we provide is highly specialised expert advice and support by direct involvement from pre-diagnosis and for all those affected by lung cancer throughout their cancer journey.

The lung cancer team also works very closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary supporting respiratory, oncology and thoracic clinics.

The successful applicant will be required to work as an autonomous practitioner with support from the lead Band 7 Lung Cancer Nurse Specialists where needed.  You should ideally have recent experience working closely with patients who have cancer and an understanding of treatment pathways and symptom management.

A basic understanding of the Somerset cancer register is desirable.

Part of the role of the specialist nurse is to provide education. This is not only for our patients and their families but includes other health care professionals who are involved in the care of lung cancer patients.
