Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. We employ more than 6,500 staff, have approximately 900 beds and have a planned turnover in excess of £410m for 2017/2018.

We require a Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to work across the geographical areas of Blackpool Wyre and the Fylde. The appointee will join 7 consultant Colleagues with various interests and the post will be resident. This post has been developed to help maintain 60 hours consultant presence on delivery suite and address performance targets in gynaecology. It is a flexible job plan to fit in with both the skills of the post holder and the needs of the department. 

Blackpool Victoria Hospital is a busy Teaching Hospital serving a resident population of 333,000 spread across the geographical areas of the Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre. Blackpool is Britain’s premier Northern Holiday Resort with an annual intake of visitors exceeding 16.5 million.

The Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department is part of the Families Division which offers an integrated and comprehensive service for Women and Children and aims to promote the highest possible range and standards of care for women, children and their families. The Division achieves its aims through continuing education and update and the appointment of appropriately qualified staff within the specialties. The Division provides a full range of outpatient, inpatient, and day case and community services.

Candidates must have membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, be fully registered with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for inclusion on the register within 6 months of the interview date for the post. Evidence of this status must be included in your application.
