Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. Pharmacy Technician Band 5

Salary - £22,128 - £28,746

Full time (37.5 hours/week) Weekend and Bank Holiday working on rota basis

As a forward thinking and progressive pharmacy department we are seeking to expand the current team in order to further develop our services.

We are looking for a versatile, enthusiastic and motivated pharmacy technician to join our friendly, caring and supportive team. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work under pressure in a positive manner and be keen to develop yourself. Ideally you should have hospital experience, but this is not essential.

Our ward based technicians provide an efficient and effective service to the wards, working with other members of the Pharmacy team, where duties include:

  • Ensuring a rapid turnaround of discharge medicines
  • Medicines optimisation for all patients in their care
  • Assessing Patients Own Drugs
  • Ordering of any medicines required for their patients
  • Medication History taking

We recognise the vital role of the pharmacy technician and are strongly committed to training and development.

The following are essential: BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ level III supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge, with at least two years relevant experience working in a pharmacy e.g. whilst training to qualify as a Pharmacy Technician, BTEC Diploma in dispensing checking, and be registered the General Pharmaceutical Council.
