Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. We employ more than 6,500 staff, have approximately 900 beds and have a planned turnover in excess of £410m for 2017/2018.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

Our strategic vision for 2020 is:

As a high performing Trust, operating as part of an integrated care system, we will provide high quality, safe and effective care. This will be achieved in a financially sustainable way, through our skilled and motivated workforce”.

Band 6, Physiotherapist

Intermediate Care, Blackpool

30 hours/week (including occasional weekends and bank holidays)

Salary - £30,401-£37,267 pro rata

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Intermediate Care team supporting the residents of Blackpool both in our in-patient unit, at the Assessment & Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) and also within their own homes as part of the reablement service. ARC is a 33 bedded rehabilitation unit, which has recently undergone a service review and consists of therapists, nurses and social services staff.

We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist, with an interest in rehabilitation, to work as part of our integrated team with health and social services staff to provide Physiotherapy assessments and interventions for patients with a variety of long-term conditions.

The post holder will be a registered Physiotherapist, who will hold an extensive caseload, with responsibility for individualised assessments and treatment plans, including identifying appropriate equipment, and delegating to support staff as appropriate. The ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with colleagues, senior clinicians, carers and patients is essential. You must be both methodical and organised, with skills in working under pressure, both individually and as part of a wider team. You will have a close working relationship with a number of external services as well as internal colleagues.

You will be expected to lead the physiotherapy team by contributing to service development and engaging staff in changes, taking direction from the management team and using your own initiative. You will be responsible for supervising and supporting other team members and students. Assistance in completing audits may be required at times, and ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients.

You will need to be able to travel around the local area to see patients in their own homes. To allow you to develop your knowledge and skills, we offer regular in-service training and supervision and we would expect the post holder to take an active role in both.
