Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. We employ more than 6,500 staff, have approximately 900 beds and have a planned turnover in excess of £410m for 2017/2018.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

Our strategic vision for 2020 is:

As a high performing Trust, operating as part of an integrated care system, we will provide high quality, safe and effective care. This will be achieved in a financially sustainable way, through our skilled and motivated workforce”.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals are looking for highly motivated and committed Band 5 Staff Nurses to work within the Stroke Unit which has strong links to the wider Unscheduled Care team, and we welcome applicants with an interest within this specialty.

The Stroke Unit is a 39 bedded unit which opened in July 2013. Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Stroke Services provide 24 hour thrombolysis, and this is carried out within the stroke unit. You will be working on a busy multi-disciplinary stroke unit where the team is friendly and active, and dedicated to promoting individualised stroke care to promote optimum independence.
We are highly focused upon your education, and we have specialist stroke training programmes available in-house as well as external courses. Commitment to undertake ongoing in-service training and development is essential. You should be motivated, keen to learn and ready to embrace change; our commitment to you is to provide the environment for this to happen.
We are focused on the care that our patients receive, and that their carers are given the opportunity to be involved in a range of patient educational activities. This will be supported by the Specialist stroke team.
If you are motivated to deliver high standards of care and have the personal qualities and characteristics as outlined in the Blackpool person then this could be the post for you.
An enhanced DBS check will be required for this post.
Please note that if you are successful in your application you agree that the Occupational Health Department can access your occupational health records from your current or previous employer (in order to check the status of your inoculations and screening tests). This is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to your taking up the position with us.
