An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established team of Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on a 12 months fixed-term or secondment.

This position has been funded by the Cancer alliance to support the Urology team to deliver personalised care and support to patients. The Urology team are looking for a candidate with experience in urology and/or oncology and a passion for ensuring that patients, families and carers have access to personalised care and support, from diagnosis, through to treatment and follow-up.

This is a challenging opportunity to acquire specialist skills and contribute to the development of this service. Incorporated within this post will be nurse-led clinics for newly diagnosed patients and promote and implement personalised care. This is a challenging role, and the successful candidate will need to remain flexible and innovative to develop services provided over 5 tumour sites. The post holder will become a member of the multidisciplinary team and will provide information, support and education for ward nurses, patients, carers and other allied health professionals.

The applicant will be have been registered for at least 5 years and be able to demonstrate a depth of urological knowledge. They must have a specialist interest in urological nursing care and have current clinical experience looking after urology patients. The applicant will be able to demonstrate both excellent communication skills and a commitment to improving nursing care. Although this post will be supported by the existing clinical nurse specialists, we are looking for someone who can work equally autonomously or as a team player.
