Opportunity in GP Primary Care:

We are looking for an experienced pharmacy technician to join the Fylde and Wyre Clinical Practice Pharmacist and Technician Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that works collaboratively to deliver an impact on prescribing across a large number of practices. The team has worked successfully on topics such as atrial fibrillation, antibiotics and heart failure over the last few years, in addition to significant cost-effectiveness work.
Practices must accommodate the needs of patients with increasingly complex medical problems and they recognise that the quality of medicines optimisation is vital to ensure safe, effective and appropriate prescribing. The well-established team (2010) has an excellent track record. The service has been provided through a Service Level Agreement between the Acute Trust and Fylde and Wyre CCG since 2010.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated pharmacy technician to play a key role in embedding effective medicines management systems and provide education and training to colleagues on the principles of medicines optimisation and medicines management of long term conditions.  


The post holder will be required to work at any of the GP practice in the Fylde and Wyre area depending on the needs of the service.

confidence to advise GPs and other practice staff, performing safe and effective medication checks within your professional capacity and helping to carry out audits.

The successful applicant will be knowledgeable in medicines management processes and confident in finding solutions to ensure patient’s get the best use of their medicines.

In addition to well-developed communication and leadership skills you will have previous experience of working within a clinical environment. Evidence of multi-disciplinary teamwork would be advantageous.

Training and support will be given. A commitment to continuing professional development is essential.
