Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. Recently awarded the Trust’s Service and Innovation Award in 2016, the Extensive Care Service has also been nominated for their second award for the Implementation for the Patient Activation Measure Tool at the HSJ Award in London.

 Extensive Care forms part of the New Models of Care programme, which was launched in 2015. Each vanguard site is taking a lead on the development of New Care Models which will act as the Blue Print for the NHS moving forward and the inspiration to the rest of the Health and Care System. The Extensive Care Service has a team of over 70 members of staff and operates across 4 sites on the Fylde Coast, which all 40 plus GP practices can refer into. The team is multidisciplinary team consisting of medical staff, Advanced Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Care Coordinators, Wellbeing Support Workers, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Primary Care Assistants. The service is a Community based service providing coordinated and integrated care for patients over the age of 60 with at least two complex conditions.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, pharmacy technician to play a key role in embedding effective medicines management systems and provide education and training to colleagues on the principles of medicines optimisation and medicines management of long term conditions.  

 The successful applicant will be knowledgeable in medicines management processes and confident in finding solutions to ensure patient’s get the best use of their medicines. You will work closely with the Extensive care pharmacist to ensure medication optimisation principles are used to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines enabling patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.

 You will be supported in your role by the Extensive care pharmacists, along with support by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, and benefit from the clinical leadership of experienced clinicians working within the service. Any new post offers the exciting opportunity for the individual to influence service provision whilst also allowing career development.

In addition to well-developed communication and leadership skills you will have previous experience of working within a clinical environment. Evidence of multi-disciplinary teamwork would be advantageous.

Training and support will be given. A commitment to continuing professional development is essential.

There is 1 part time position available working 22.5hours per week to be based on at one of the Extensive Care sites in the North or South locality.
